About

Welcome to Chasing Smiles

Dentistry designed around the person behind the smile

Chasing Smiles is a general dentistry practice in Chevy Chase built around a simple belief: people deserve to feel understood before they are treated. That means taking time to learn what brought you in, what you are hoping to improve, and what would make dental care feel easier for you.

From routine cleanings and periodontal care to restorative treatment, cosmetic dentistry, dentures, and implant restorations, every recommendation is shaped around your goals. We believe dentistry should feel clear, considered, and personal — not rushed, overwhelming, or one-size-fits-all.

Meet the dentist behind the practice

Get to know Dr. Fatima Maarouf

Dr. Fatima Maarouf believes the best dentistry starts with trust. She takes the time to get to know each patient, listen to their concerns, and create a comfortable, welcoming experience where people feel heard, respected, and confident in their care. Whether you're visiting for a routine cleaning or a complete smile restoration, her goal is to provide exceptional treatment with compassion, honesty, and attention to detail.

Originally from Lebanon, Dr. Maarouf grew up in a family that placed a strong emphasis on education and service. Several of her siblings pursued careers in medicine, and her own experiences as a dental patient, including braces, extractions, root canals, and crowns, inspired her interest in the profession. After shadowing the dentist who had cared for her for years, she discovered a passion for dentistry's unique blend of science, artistry, and problem-solving, along with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Dr. Maarouf earned her bachelor's degree in Biology with High Distinction from the American University of Beirut before receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with Honors from Virginia Commonwealth University. She then completed a General Practice Residency at Tufts University, where she expanded her training in comprehensive dental care and advanced clinical procedures.

Following her residency, Dr. Maarouf owned and operated a private dental practice in Winthrop, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston, for seven years. There, she built lasting relationships with patients and families while earning a reputation for gentle, personalized care and clinical excellence. A few years ago, she and her family relocated to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area to be closer to family and establish long-term roots. Today, she is proud to call Maryland home and is excited to serve the community where she and her family are building their future.

With more than 15 years of experience and a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, earned in 2024, Dr. Maarouf combines advanced clinical expertise with a warm, patient-first philosophy. As the new owner of the practice, she is honored to continue its tradition of personalized care while bringing her own vision for the future. She believes every patient deserves to feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely cared for, and she takes pride in building relationships that last for years. Whether helping someone maintain a healthy smile or restoring confidence through restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Maarouf is committed to treating every patient like family.

Outside the office, Dr. Maarouf enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She loves baking, crafting, hiking, weightlifting, and fitting in a Peloton ride whenever she can. She believes the same patience, kindness, and dedication that guide her family life are reflected in the way she cares for her patients every day.

A Message from Dr. Savramis

Dear Patient,

After 36 wonderful years of practicing dentistry, I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring. As many of you are aware, I have been struggling with significant back pain for several years. Sadly, my back problems have reached a stage where I can no longer be there for you each day in the way I always have. While this decision has been difficult, I know it is the right one for my health.

It has truly been an honor to care for you and your families. Over the decades, I have watched children grow into adults, welcomed new family members, and shared many conversations, laughs, and meaningful moments. The relationships we have built have been the most rewarding part of my career, and I will always carry them with me.

I am grateful to have found a successor I trust wholeheartedly. Dr. Fatima Maarouf will be taking over the practice. She is an experienced and skilled dentist of 15 years, who previously owned her own practice in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Maarouf received her dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed her residency at Tufts University. What stands out most about her is her sincere compassion and the care with which she listens to her patients. I am confident that you will feel comfortable and well cared for in her hands.

Thank you for your trust and loyalty over so many years. It has been a privilege to be your dentist, and I leave knowing the practice will continue with the same dedication to your wellbeing.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Peter G. Savramis, DDS

The people you’ll see at every visit

A team that takes the time to know you

A good dental experience is shaped by more than treatment alone. It is shaped by how you are greeted, how your questions are answered, and whether you feel like the people around you are paying attention.

Our team is here to make each visit feel calm, organized, and clear. From your first phone call to the moment you leave, you can expect friendly communication, helpful guidance, and a pace that gives you room to ask questions.

Here’s what your first visit looks like

starting with clarity

Your first visit is a chance for us to get to know you, not rush you through a checklist. Dr. Maarouf will take time to talk through your dental history, current concerns, past experiences, and what you would like your smile to feel like long term.

From there, we will evaluate your oral health, explain what we see in plain language, and walk you through your options. You will leave with a clearer sense of where things stand and what comes next, without pressure to commit to treatment before you are ready.

Patient Experience

Expect a calm, conversational visit. We explain what we are seeing, answer questions as we go, and help you understand the “why” behind any recommendations. If a treatment needs to be referred to a trusted specialist, such as an impacted wisdom tooth, we will help coordinate that step and stay involved in your care afterward.

What to Bring

To make your first visit smooth, please bring:

A photo ID

Your dental insurance card, if applicable

A list of current medications

Any recent dental records or X-rays from a previous provider

Questions or concerns you would like to talk through

Modern tools making easy

Technology should make dentistry feel more precise, more comfortable, and more transparent. We use modern tools to improve the way we diagnose, plan, and explain your care, so you can feel more confident in every decision.

TRIOS intraoral scanner

Our TRIOS scanner captures detailed 3D images of your teeth without traditional goopy impressions. It is fast, comfortable, and precise, supporting restorative work, crowns, aligners, and other treatments that benefit from a highly accurate digital model.

CBCT imaging coming soon

We are adding cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT, to the practice. This advanced imaging technology creates detailed 3D views of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures, helping us plan with greater accuracy in more complex cases.

A clear path forward

Your smile is worth chasing.
Begin that journey here.

Whether you are due for a cleaning, ready to talk about cosmetic options, or looking for a dentist who will take the time to understand your needs, we would love to meet you.
